Helping to reach students that truly need help.
At times teacher have a hard time reaching students that need help, or just need to be reassured. I know me, as a teacher, it is hard to find the time during independent work to figure out who needs help, and who needs a question to be answered. Independent Practice is a must! We learn a new concept, now time to put in some work. Independent practice also needs feedback and at times reteach moments. The problem is, "How do we know who truly is lost?" This has been a struggle for me, and during my time of reflection the question is always coming up. How to give constant feedback, but also help the student that is just sitting there waiting for a teacher to save them. "Moonwalking with Einstein, Joshua Foer describes people arriving at an “OK plateau.” When individuals get to this point, although they may be continuing to do work or even get practice, they’re not necessarily getting better. To get off the “OK plateau” and move to an “awesome mountain” (this is our phrase, not his) one needs consistent feedback." I looked on a few websites, and decided to just make my own. We now use this product daily and has helped me reach my students more effectively during the day. This year I made a few products, and this by far is the most used.
